The Bloorcourt Business Improvement Area
What is a BIA?
A Business Improvement Area (BIA) is an association of local businesses and commercial property owners within a defined geographic area who work in partnership with the City of Toronto to create thriving, competitive, and safe business areas that attract shoppers, diners, tourists, and new businesses.
Located along Bloor Street West, from Montrose Avenue to Dufferin Street, Bloorcourt, which has been an established BIA since 1979, is well known for being a well-balanced neighbourhood with a great variety of shops and services, catering to all tastes and ages. The Annual “Street Festival and Sidewalk Sale” will take place in August, featuring live entertainment, arts and crafts vendors, and international cuisine tasting. Our multicultural community includes Portuguese, East African, Italian, Greek, Japanese, Korean, Ukrainian, and Jamaican to name just a few. A well-known shopper attraction is the Long & McQuade Musical Instruments store, a strong supporter of the musical arts community.
The Bloorcourt BIA Board is comprised of area business owners, residents and two city councillors:
